Amazing Product!

This switch is a great addition to any home with wifi!! Not being an electrician, the directions were super clear which allowed me to install this with no problem!! I installed the required app which is very user friendly and makes connecting devices simple. Now I can use my phone or tablet to control my devices.

Know your wiring

Installing this device as a WIFI enabled single pole switch is straight forward and any DIY’er can manage it. _x000D_ _x000D_ To install it as a 3-way WIFI switch, you have to really understand wiring. Even if you have a basic 3-way switch already installed, a WIFI 3-way switch is unique. This is because the wiring schematic is different for a setup with a WIFI switch. The main unit has to maintain constant power (through the power in Hot/Neutral, to keep the WIFI working) and it is also designed to feed the light directly (Load terminal). The wiring schematic is confusing because it traces a lot of wires but they can be simplified into three activities within the WIFI switch (Power in, A run to the lights and A partial run to the other switch) _x000D_ _x000D_ A basic 3-way switch is easily wired using a 14/3 cable between switches and making sure all of the terminals have the proper wire attached. Using a 3-way WIFI switch is different because the second switch is not using all of the terminals. The other switch can be simple but it no longer uses the common out (because the common out is now assigned to the WIFI switch.) So, you need to disconnect the common wire (wire that feeds the light) and only connect the traveler and the neutral (the actual neutral that goes to ground.) In essence, the 3-way WIFI switch check the status of the traveler to see if it is grounded or not to know when the switch status changes at the other location. _x000D_ _x000D_ I’ve used WIFI switches and outlets in my house for years. To this point I’ve only used single pole switches, outlets and combo light/fan switches. The 3-way was a challenge to install because it uses different logic that I was familiar with. After my first install attempt failed, I looked into possible issues and discovered that the person that originally wired the outlet didn’t stick to wiring conventions and I hadn’t marked the wires coming off the existing switches. It took me significantly longer to diagnose the issue and also discover that there was a junction box where splices were made between the switches and lights including a change in the color-coding system visible in both boxes. _x000D_ _x000D_ I think people with basic knowledge of wiring will have difficulty with adding this to their system if they didn’t know about the special wiring on the second switch as mentioned above. Other than that, this switch as all the benefits that you would expect form a WIFI switch and the app is easy to use. One unique feature to this switch is that it has a laser etched QR code on the front mounting plate to make it easier to add to your home network on the Wiser Home app. (Note: I looked up the instructions on the Schneider Electric website to get a larger view of the wiring schematic and then redrew it for my wiring situation)_x000D_ _x000D_ In the end it was worth it but I was cursing the person that wired the existing switch for not following convention with their wiring.

Awesome way to get into the smart home space.

This is a great way to start automating your lights in your home. Also long as you have good wifi in your house this switch is super simple to set up and pretty much like wiring any other light switch. The key difference is the wifi! Once I hooked it up, I downloaded the app and got it paired right up to my homes wifi. Now I can control with the app, set schedules, connect to alexa and google home. It's just plain amazing! I think anyone with basic DIY skills can do the set up of this in their homes unless you have a special situation electrically....then hire an electrician. I would highly recommend this to anyone looking to get their homes "smart", one switch at a time!

Great features!

I've not had a switch like this before but I'm looking forward to having things set up the correct way to utilize it! It turns any 3 way directional switch into wifi controlled as needed. This is helpful in a room that has more than one entry with a switch at each one. Plus it can all be controlled wifi from your phone! _x000D_ _x000D_ Installing is easy to follow with simple instructions and markings on device. If you know basic wiring n electrical work then this should be pretty simple. _x000D_ _x000D_ Oh n the brand has a great reputation so that's always a good thing to hear.

Terrific update

WIFI SWITCH SP/3-WAY ENERGY MON WH Is a great idea. Very easy to install and very easy to use. While I am not an electrician, I found the directions very informative and easy to understand. Installation is quick and relatively simple. Great products.
